Independence police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding an injured man found Monday morning at an East Truman Road used furniture store. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- A former furniture store scheduled for demolition is burning on Highway 21 between Rock Hill and Fort Mill. Firefighters have closed Highway 21 at the Catawba River while they monitor the fire at Bits & Pieces Used Furniture. Firefighters said they planned to let the fire burn since the building was scheduled to be demolished next week. No injuries have been reported.
